This week, Alliance Rehabilitation is celebrating and raising awareness for Veterans Health Week. From Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November the health and wellbeing of the Veteran community is being highlighted.
The theme for Veterans Health Week 2020 is ‘Social Connection’. During these difficult times – it is especially important to remain connected with friends, family, and the local community in a safe way. Former and current serving Defence Force personnel, their families, friends, and carers are being supported to improve mental and physical health to promote total wellbeing. COVID-19 has introduced barriers to social connection out of our control and this week attempts to close the gap through creative and innovative events which aim to improve community engagement while maintaining everyone’s safety.
To celebrate the week, Alliance Rehabilitation held a healthy cooking demonstration and workshop by our Accredited Practising Dietitians. The ‘Dietitian Power Hour’ saw the creation of colourful, nutritious meals. These recipes are easy to make at home and are designed to share or create together- encouraging social connection. Food brings communities together and our dietitians are here to help you live well by promoting nutritional health and a varied diet. We will also be releasing a booklet (stay tuned next week) with the recipes so you can recreate them at home!
