Anxiety, Depression or Trauma
Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia. On average one in four people will experience an anxiety disorder in their lifetime. Reaching out and getting help for anxiety early has been found to improve recovery.
Depression is a serious mental health issue affecting many Australians. While feeling low, moody or sad is part of life, some people feel these things more intensely or for extended periods. This can adversely impact physical and mental social health. Psychological treatments for depression are available to support participants in their recovery.
Trauma is often the result of an overwhelming amount of stress that exceeds one’s ability to cope. Trauma may result from a single distressing experience or recurring events. A number of psychotherapy approaches have been designed with the treatment of trauma in mind. Our Psychologists are trained in evidence-based therapies to minimise the impact of trauma.
Counselling and Social Work
A counsellor is trained to help you or someone you know with concerns or problems such as anxiety, depression, grief or relationship difficulties. They assist by helping you to resolve your problems in a positive way by helping you to clarify the issues, explore options, develop strategies and increase self-awareness.
Assessment & Observation
Our therapists are able to observe, evaluate and provide feedback on approaches that could improve outcomes for participants.
Our large interdisciplinary team is able to provide assessment services and generate reports to assist in developing intervention strategies and applying for assistance from support organisations and funding bodies.
Sensory processing disorder (SPD)
SPD a neurological condition that exists when sensory signals are not organised into appropriate responses. People with SPD find it difficult to process sensory information (e.g. sound, touch and movement) from the world around them. This means that they may feel sensory input more or less intensely than other people.
Sensory integration programs can be designed and implemented with your child and their teachers to help them achieve learning success.
Disordered eating
Our Dietitians can help to improve your relationship with food and eating; stopping the cycle of blame, shame, guilt and self-criticism while setting the foundation for long term change.
