Program Overview

Alliance Clinics (prev Alliance Rehabilitation) is a leading private, interdisciplinary health team based in North Queensland, with locations in Townsville and Mackay. As a New Graduate Occupational Therapist at Alliance Clinics, you will join a driven and connected multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, speech pathologists, social workers, psychologists, dietitians, and diabetes educators. Our services span both public and private sectors, including NDIS, My Aged Care, DVA, Medicare, and private funding options, serving clients across a wide range of ages and disabilities.

Our New Graduate Support Program is designed to provide you with the mentorship, training, and hands-on experience needed to thrive as a clinician in a private practice environment. You’ll work in a multidisciplinary team, gaining experience with a diverse caseload and receiving structured, supportive guidance every step of the way.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Recent Graduate: Applicants must have completed an accredited Occupational Therapy program within the last 12 months.
  • OT Degree: A Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current Registration: Must be eligible for registration with the relevant licensing board.
  • Commitment to Private Practice: Interest in working with clients of all ages and disabilities in a private practice setting.
  • Willingness to Learn and Grow: A desire to receive guidance, shadow senior clinicians, and gradually take on your own caseload.

Program Structure

  1. Comprehensive Induction
    Duration: 2 weeks
    Details: Kickstart your journey with an immersive induction period. This will cover community practice essentials, NDIS processes, our organisation’s operations, and various shadowing opportunities to observe experienced clinicians at work.
  2. Weekly Individual Supervision
    Duration: 12 months
    Details: Be paired with an experienced supervisor who will provide weekly 1:1 clinical support. Receive weekly individualised supervision to discuss clinical questions, case decisions, resources, and learning topics. This is a crucial part of ensuring your professional development and confidence.
    Ongoing Supervision: Regular supervision continues beyond your first year, with individualised plans developed between the team leader and clinician to determine the frequency of dedicated support required based on your professional development needs.
  3. Shadowing & Graded Exposure to Caseload
    Duration: First 6 months
    Details: You will begin by shadowing our large team of clinicians to observe their sessions, gradually transitioning into managing your own caseload.
    Your caseload will increase gradually as you gain experience and confidence. Senior OTs will provide ongoing support, and you will have your initial sessions guided by your team leader.
  4. Clinical Report Reviews
    Duration: First 6 months
    Details: Have your clinical reports reviewed by experienced clinicians. You’ll receive detailed feedback and constructive suggestions to ensure high standards of practice and support continuous improvement.
  5. Mentorship Program
    Duration: Ongoing (12 months)
    Details: Be supported by our team of Occupational Therapists and multidisciplinary professionals throughout the year. You will receive structured mentorship, with regular check-ins, and also have access to ad hoc support whenever needed. This ensures you are supported at every stage of your clinical practice, with opportunities to reflect on your experiences, discuss challenges, and receive guidance on career development. This flexible approach allows for tailored support based on your specific needs and goals, empowering you to grow both personally and professionally.
  6. Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration
    Details: Work within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team (MDT), including other new graduates and experienced clinicians. This environment helps you appreciate the value of collaborative care and will help you enhance your skills in holistic client management.
  7. Career Progression Pathways
    Details: Tailored career development pathways aligned with your professional goals. At Alliance Clinics, you will have opportunities for further training, development, and career progression, including the opportunity to bring forward and discuss your areas of interest.
